Microsoft's latest OS Windows 8 comes with a new Start Screen which shows live tiles of installed programs, system tools, etc to provide quick and easy access to your favorite programs.

Today i am going to show you how to How to Pin, Resize, Move, Close or Uninstall App Tiles?

1. HOW TO UNPIN (REMOVE), UNINSTALL OR RESIZE A TILE IN START SCREEN

If you don't like a tile in Start Screen and want to remove it from the screen, just right-click on it and click on Unpin from Start option in the bottom bar:

You can also completely uninstall a tile by clicking on Uninstall button. You can also resize a rectangular tile by clicking on Smaller button. You can again make that tile large by clicking on Larger button. You can also turn off live previews of tiles using Turn live tile off option.

2. ADD NEW TILES IN START SCREEN

If you removed (by mistaken) a tile and want to add it back onto start screen or if you add a brand new tile to start screen, then just move you cursor to the extreme top right corner. It will show you the new custom bar , select search or just press ctrl+tab keys to get apps screen. It will open the apps page, where you will get a long list of amazing apps.Right click on an app which you want to add or pin to start screen and click on "pin to start" option in bottom bar :

3. HOW TO MOVE TILES IN START SCREEN

4. HOW TO CLOSE APPS IN START SCREEN

You can close a running app by pressing Alt+F4 keys together. Or you can move mouse cursor to top-middle area of screen and the cursor will change into a hand shape. Now click and hold the cursor and drag-n-drop it to the bottom and it'll immediately close the app.

Run Win8 Metro apps on desktop with free modernStart

| |
Stardock released ModernMix that allows Windows 8 users to run the Modern (Metro) apps in a window on the desktop. But being upset with the fact that Stardock is charging for such a simple app, Villain came up with a free alternative to ModernMix.

WINDOWS 8 ONLY

use a hotkey keypress to resize the Windows 8 Start Screen to 800×600, aligned to the taskbar (standard bottom-left position)

How To Use:

READ THE TEXT ON THE FORM. Seriously, it is super-simple.
You can shrink (Control+Shift+K)
You can restore (Control+Shift+R)

NOTE:

The Start screen will stay this way until you log off, reboot, shutdown, etc… As I said before, working on a way to automate it.
Sizing Options now in place, for those that hate 800*600, have a low resolution, have a high resolution, whatever.
